Halal meals in Mongolia

Finding halal food in Mongolia may require some research and effort, as Mongolia is not a predominantly Muslim country. However, here are some tips that may help you find halal food in Mongolia:

Look for Muslim-owned restaurants: You can try searching for restaurants owned by Muslims or those that advertise halal food. You can also ask locals or your hotel staff for recommendations. Normally Halal restaurants in Ulaanbaatar (capital of Mongolia) are Turkish restaurants or Uzbek restaurants.

Check restaurant menus: If you’re unsure whether a restaurant serves halal food, you can check their menu or ask the staff. Most halal restaurants will clearly label their food as halal.

Look for Muslim communities: You may be able to find halal food in areas where there is a significant Muslim community. You can try asking locals or searching online for Muslim communities in Mongolia. However, if you are travelling to western Mongolian Bayan-Ulgii province you can be absolutely sure that all meals there are just Halal. 90% of population in Bayan-Ulgii province of Mongolia are Mongolian Kazakh Muslims. And all the meat in that area are Halal.

Bring your own food: If you’re not able to find halal food in other parts of Mongolia, you can always bring your own food from home. Make sure to check the regulations for bringing food into the country before doing so. But, it is not necessary as Ulaanbaatar could be your first option to find a Halal food.
